“The key is in accepting your thoughts, all of them, even the bad ones.”
“Where talk exists, so does hope.”
Matt Haig, Reasons to stay alive
These are a couple of quotes that resonate with me from ‘Reasons to stay alive’. In this book, Matt Haig explains in simple terms what it was like for him, when crippling depression and anxiety evolved into becoming suicidal.
Haig does a fantastic job of illuminating the dark breadth of depression, by sharing the raw feelings and thoughts at his lowest, whilst bringing you to that glimmer of hope, and then to functioning.
Like Matt, you may have at times lost all hope for yourself, or for someone you know or love. Therapy provides the space for you to come exactly how you are, however broken or fragile you might feel. Where you can explore your feelings and try to find clarity or peace.
